Malayalam actor Dileep's acquittal in the 2017 sexual assault case has sparked outrage, with his ex-wife Manju Warrier speaking out against the verdict. In a strongly worded statement, Manju expressed her disappointment, stating that justice for the survivor remains incomplete. The case, which involved a female Mollywood actor, saw Dileep accused of paying attackers to assault the victim in 2017. Although six of the accused were found guilty, including the prime suspect, Dileep and three others were acquitted. Manju Warrier's statement on Instagram criticized the court's decision, emphasizing that only those who physically committed the crime have been punished, while those who planned and enabled the heinous act remain free. She urged that justice will only be complete when everyone involved in the crime is held accountable. Dileep, who was acquitted, accused his ex-wife of conspiring against him, claiming that she was involved in a plot to destroy his career and reputation. However, Manju's statement made it clear that her concerns were with the survivor, and the need for justice to be served in this case. The 2017 assault case involved a group of men forcing their way into the survivor's car and holding her captive for nearly two hours. The prosecution alleged that Dileep had a motive to harm the survivor, as she had informed him about his alleged affair with another actress. The Ernakulam Principal Sessions Court delivered its verdict, acquitting Dileep and three others, while finding six of the accused guilty. The case has reignited debate on the need for justice and accountability in such cases, with Manju Warrier's statement highlighting the importance of holding all perpetrators accountable.
