Akhanda 2, the highly-anticipated sequel to Balakrishna's 2021 hit film, has finally secured a release date of December 12, after overcoming last-minute legal hurdles. However, the film's new release date has forced two other movies, Mowgli and Psych Siddhartha, to postpone their releases. Mowgli director Sandeep Raj has taken to social media to express his frustration, joking that he's 'bad luck' for the film industry. His debut film Colour Photo faced similar issues due to the Covid-19 pandemic and was released digitally. However, in a surprising turn of events, Mowgli's release date was pushed forward by just one day to December 13, and it will now compete with Akhanda 2 for viewers. Sandeep Raj clarified that the change was made to secure a better release date, as the distributors and producers wanted to capitalize on the Christmas and Sankranti holidays. The re-release of Rajinikanth's Shivaji has also been postponed, and Karthi's Vaa Vaathiyaar, set to release in Telugu as Annagaru Vostaru, will now hit screens on December 12 alongside Akhanda 2. Psych Siddhartha makers, Rana Daggubati and Nandu, took to social media to announce the new release date, using a humorous meme to poke fun at the situation. The film's release has now been pushed to January 1, 2026. As the Telugu film industry continues to navigate the challenges of the pandemic, it remains to be seen how these changes will impact the box office. One thing is certain, however - the wait for Akhanda 2 and Mowgli will be over soon.
