After the pandemic, Bollywood's approach to big films shifted towards mass action, south style. However, Akshay Kumar is quietly bucking the trend with three out-and-out comedies, becoming the only major star to return to his roots.

Akshay was one of the early adopters of south-style mass action in Hindi cinema, giving hits like Rowdy Rathore and Khiladi 786. However, he has persevered and found success with OMG 2, Kesari 2, and Jolly LLB 3, eventually finding his way back to comedy.

No one does comedy like Akshay Kumar, who has made most of his films cult classics with his comic timing. His return to comedy began with Housefull 5, and now he is combining with his trusted partner, Priyadarshan, for three films, including Bhooth Bangla, Haiwaan, and Hera Pheri 3.

Bhooth Bangla, directed by Priyadarshan and produced by Balaji Telefilms, stars Tabu, Paresh Rawal, Wamiqa Gabbi, and Rajpal Yadav, and arrives in theatres on April 17. The film's trailer has evoked words like 'nostalgia' and 'clutter-breaking', indicating what the audience wants.
