Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor's look as Lord Rama from Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana was unveiled on April 2 at a grand event in Mumbai.
Filmmaker Anurag Basu has shared his views on Ranbir's portrayal of Lord Rama, praising his look and calling his decision to take on the role courageous.
Basu, who has worked with Ranbir in Barfi! and Jagga Jasoos, said, 'The way I had imagined Ranbir as Rama when he signed the film, and what I expected, was very good.'
He further added, 'It takes a lot of courage for an actor to say yes, because people put actors in boxes in our industry. So, I think it is very courageous of him.'
Ranbir, during the Los Angeles event where the teaser was first screened, revealed that he initially hesitated to take up the role in Ramayana, fearing he might not be able to pull it off.
The Ramayana teaser, released earlier this month, received mixed reviews, primarily focusing on Ranbir's look as Lord Rama and the film's VFX.
