New Delhi, PVR INOX has announced the re-release of Anurag Kashyap's cult classic 'Dev.D' on April 24. The 2009 film is a modern-day adaptation of Sarat Chandra Chattopadhyay's 1917 Bengali novel 'Devdas'. The film follows Devendra Singh 'Dev' Dhillon, a young man who descends into addiction after a failed relationship.

The film features Abhay Deol, Mahie Gill, and Kalki Koechlin in lead roles and was written by Kashyap and Vikramaditya Motwane. It was a box office and critical success, with its music composed by Amit Trivedi gaining popularity.

Niharika Bijli, Lead Strategist at PVR INOX, said the film's enduring impact drew the multiplex chain to re-release it. Kashyap stated that the film was a provocation, stripping away the romanticism associated with the character of Devdas and thrusting it into the chaos of contemporary India.

Abhay Deol, who originally conceived the idea for the film, said the project remained a personal triumph. The film will be re-released by PVR INOX in association with Star Studio18 on April 24.
