Renowned composer AR Rahman has spoken candidly about the pressures of his Oscar-winning legacy. In a recent interview with The Hollywood Reporter India, Rahman revealed that constant nostalgia and comparisons to his past work have led him to question his own creativity. Rahman, who has won two Oscars, confessed that people often 'gaslight' him into thinking he's no longer producing quality work. He believes this has fueled his desire to constantly prove himself, taking on a remarkable 20-30 film projects in the last six years. To counter this, Rahman has been working relentlessly, taking on multiple film projects and composing music back-to-back. He hopes this will help him regain his confidence and self-esteem, rather than relying on past accolades. In fact, he's now more focused on his next projects, saying, 'What I'm doing next is going to be the best thing.' Rahman's next projects include the soundtrack for Vijay Sethupathi's Gandhi Talks, set to release on January 30, and a collaboration with Hans Zimmer for Nitesh Tiwari's Ramayana, starring Ranbir Kapoor and Sai Pallavi, releasing on Diwali 2026. The composer emphasized that personal motivation is key to his success, saying, 'I love past recognition, but it's not what drives me. I need to prove myself, and what I'm doing next is going to be the best thing.' With his fresh start in 2026, Rahman is ready to take on new challenges and leave his past accomplishments behind.
