Singer Chinmayi Sripaada has come to the defense of music composer AR Rahman, who is facing criticism for collaborating with choreographer Jani Master, who was accused of sexual harassment of a minor and is now out on bail. Chinmayi, a frequent collaborator with Rahman, revealed that she had questioned the composer about working with Jani Master, claiming that Rahman was unaware of the allegations. Chinmayi responded to criticism on social media, stating that she had asked Rahman about his collaboration with Jani Master and had been informed that he was unaware of the allegations. She also pointed out that she had previously spoken out against powerful men in the Tamil film industry, including her alleged harasser, lyricist Vairamuthu. Rahman was recently criticized for posing for a picture with Jani Master, who choreographed a song for the film Peddi. Jani Master was apprehended in September last year and brought to Hyderabad, where he was accused of sexually assaulting a minor assistant choreographer in 2020. He is currently out on bail. Chinmayi emphasized that she had taken a stand against her alleged harasser and had faced harassment and abuse as a result. She urged others to consider the consequences of speaking out against powerful men, stating that she could not keep doing the work and facing harassment at the same time.
