Five years after the critically acclaimed Raat Akeli Hai, director Honey Trehan returns with The Bansal Murders, a gripping thriller that keeps viewers on the edge of their seats. The film follows the affluent Bansal family, who are brutally murdered one night, with their throats slit. As Inspector Jatil Yadav (Nawazuddin Siddiqui) investigates the case, a complex web of suspects emerges, including a troubled son, a mysterious godwoman (Deepti Naval), and an opportunistic relative (Sanjay Kapoor). The film's eerie atmosphere and raw, unsettling visuals make for a thrilling ride, but some plot threads are unevenly paced. The godwoman's storyline, in particular, feels like a red herring, causing the narrative to lose some of its tension. With a large cast, some characters can be confusing to follow, and the plot relies on convenient twists. Despite these missteps, the film shines thanks to its talented cast. Nawazuddin Siddiqui delivers a standout performance as Jatil, and his chemistry with Radhika Apte (in a special appearance) is undeniable. Revathi shines as the forensic head, while Chitrangda Singh and Sanjay Kapoor provide good support. While The Bansal Murders could have been a darker, more complex investigation drama, it remains a compelling follow-up to Raat Akeli Hai. With a solid cast and a neatly resolved climax, it's a worthy sequel that will keep viewers engaged until the very end.
