Prime Video unveiled the first look of its upcoming psychological crime thriller Daldal at the 56th International Film Festival of India (IFFI). The series, starring Bhumi Pednekar as DCP Rita Ferreira, is based on Vish Dhamija's bestselling novel Bhendi Bazaar. Rita's pursuit of a brutal killer forces her into Mumbai's moral grey zones and compels her to confront buried memories. The series, created by Suresh Triveni and directed by Amrit Raj Gupta, will also feature Aditya Rawal and Samara Tijori. In a special session at IFFI, Pednekar and the team discussed the show's exploration of female complexity and Prime Video's approach to women-led narratives. Pednekar, who found her character to be one of the most challenging roles of her career, said: 'Rita's power lies in restraint. She doesn't need to be loud to be strong.' The actor, who took months to 'come out' of the character, praised the team for pushing her to explore complexity and darkness in the character. Prime Video's Nikhil Madhok said the platform is committed to expanding opportunities for women both on-screen and behind the scenes. Abundantia Entertainment's Vikram Malhotra emphasized the importance of authentic storytelling, saying that labels defeat the purpose of connecting with audiences universally. Daldal is set to premiere on Prime Video soon, offering a gripping narrative that explores the complexities of female characters.
