A viral video on social media claimed that Bollywood actor Govinda made a cameo in James Cameron's Avatar: Fire and Ash. However, it's been revealed that the clip is AI-generated and has no connection to the actual film. The video featured Govinda dressed in traditional Indian attire and speaking in his signature Mumbai dialect, alongside scenes that don't exist in the movie. An investigation into the clip's origins suggests that it was created based on Govinda's past claims of being approached to star in the original Avatar film in 2009. In an interview earlier this year, Govinda claimed that he met James Cameron and turned down the offer, despite being offered ₹18 crore for the role. He also claimed to have suggested the film's title and later expressed regret over his decision to decline the offer. However, his longtime collaborator and producer Pahlaj Nihalani has disputed these claims, suggesting that Govinda may have been confusing Cameron's Avatar with a shelved Bollywood project they had worked on. The original Avatar went on to become one of the highest-grossing films of all time, earning $2.92 billion worldwide, while its sequel The Way of Water grossed $2.3 billion. The latest instalment, Avatar: Fire and Ash, reportedly opened to $347 million globally. The authenticity of Govinda's claims remains a topic of debate, with the AI-generated clip adding to the confusion.
