In a candid conversation with tennis star Sania Mirza on 'Serving It Up With Sania,' renowned filmmaker Karan Johar opened up about the challenges of being a parent. He revealed that he has intentionally toned down his flamboyant style to avoid potential bullying of his children, Yash and Roohi, at school. Johar expressed concerns that his kids might stumble upon embarrassing footage of him online, which could impact their perception of him. To mitigate this risk, Johar has altered his wardrobe choices, opting for more conservative attire to minimize the likelihood of negative comments from their peers. As a maximalist, Johar initially felt conflicted about adapting to societal expectations, but his primary concern as a parent is ensuring his children feel secure and confident. Despite his efforts to be mindful of his public image, Johar emphasized that he wants his kids to grow up accepting and embracing individuality, rather than changing themselves to fit in. The director has been open about his close relationship with his mother, Hiroo Johar, and his experiences as a single father to Yash and Roohi, who were born through surrogacy in 2017. Johar's latest directorial project, the 2023 film 'Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani,' features Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt in lead roles.
