The upcoming Bollywood film O Romeo, starring Shahid Kapoor and Triptii Dimri, has sparked controversy after Hussain Ustara's daughter, Sanober Shaikh, accused the filmmakers of distorting facts about her late father's life. Sanober, who claims to have never threatened the film's team, said that she wants to watch the movie before its release to ensure that it portrays her father's story accurately. She alleged that the film's romantic portrayal of her father and Sapna, the character played by Triptii Dimri, is false and damaging to her family's reputation. In a letter to the producers and director Vishal Bhardwaj, Sanober reportedly demanded ₹2 crores and a postponement of the film's release. However, she has since denied making any threats, stating that she wants to give the film a 'go-ahead' if it is made with integrity. The makers of O Romeo have not confirmed whether the film is based on Hussain Ustara's life and death, but the film's plot is believed to revolve around a gangster who feuded with underworld don Dawood Ibrahim. The film, also starring Vikrant Massey, Tamannaah Bhatia, and Avinash Tiwary, is set to release on February 13, 2026. Hussain Ustara's family is prepared to take legal action if they are not satisfied with the film's portrayal of their loved one.
