Actor Nushrratt Bharuccha recently found herself at the centre of controversy after a video she shared on her Instagram Stories was mistaken for something else. The internet alleged that sounds made in the IPL celebratory video were inappropriate. On Thursday, Nushrratt issued a clarification and also flagged a fake statement circulating in her name.

Nushrratt Bharuccha clarifies IPL video

Reposting the video a friend shared on her Instagram Stories, Nushrratt wrote: “Kuch logon ne hadh hi kar di hai. Ek puppy ke rone ki awaaz se itna bawaal mach gaya hai and someone has issued a fake clarification also on my behalf. (People have crossed their limits. They created a fuss over the sound of a puppy crying).

She added, “So here's the reality ...I was watching the match at my friends house and their young puppy was making these crying 'Sounds'. This is the video made by my friend at the same time with the same sounds from another angle. (contd .. )” In another post, she wrote, “This is the house where I was watching the match. This is the puppy. This is a video from that very night a while later.”

Nushrratt also stated that she predicted this would happen, writing, “Fearing exactly what has happened, I was advised to delete that video and I did. People, calm your wild thoughts down! Owning a mobile phone doesn't empower harrassment. Do not misinterpret or follow blindly. Think and act responsibly!” Flags fake statement in her name

Nushrratt also flagged a fake statement made in her name that read: “Guys, calm down. That voice is NOT mine.” Another portion of the fake statement read: “The way some people are spreading random stories and theories on social media is honestly unbelievable. One accidental post and suddenly everyone becomes a detective. Please stop believing every rumor you see online. Not everything needs a conspiracy theory attached to it.” The actor reposted the note with ‘fake’ written on it.
