The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has cleared Aditya Dhar's upcoming film Dhurandhar, despite controversy surrounding its depiction of late Major Mohit Sharma. The film's trailer sparked social media comparisons between Major Sharma's life and Ranveer Singh's character, leading to a petition filed by the Major's parents in the Delhi High Court. Major Mohit Sharma's brother, Madhur, spoke to Hindustan Times about the development. He expressed gratitude for the CBFC's quick decision, but also felt that a public screening for the parents could have clarified any misconceptions. 'A screening could have helped clear the air and prevented social media frenzy,' he said. Madhur clarified that the family is not seeking any benefits, but rather a sympathetic understanding of their loss. 'We just want due diligence. If the film is based on Major Sharma, it's essential to acknowledge it. If not, the hype surrounding it should be corrected,' he added. The family's next steps are uncertain, with Madhur stating that they will consult with their lawyers before deciding on their course of action. The CBFC has maintained that Dhurandhar is a work of fiction, but the Sharma family hopes that a disclaimer will be added to the film to avoid any further controversy.
