In the midst of a world grappling with climate change and existential crises, Spanish director Oliver Laxe's latest film, 'Sirāt,' is sparking intense conversations. The movie, which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival, follows a father and son's journey across the Moroccan desert in search of their missing daughter, only to find themselves at the forefront of an impending apocalypse. Laxe, known for his spiritually charged filmmaking style, says his intention was to provoke viewers to confront their inner selves. "The main purpose was to make the spectator look inside," he explained. "We need to look inside to be free and emancipated people, but it's not always easy to face what we see.
