Hollywood star Dwayne Johnson has announced the start of production on the long-awaited third installment of the 'Jumanji' franchise. The film, described as a 'massive, fun, and heartfelt adventure,' will conclude the beloved series on a poignant note. In a recent Instagram post, Johnson shared a photo of the cast gathered for the film's first table read in Los Angeles. The 'Jumanji' regulars, including Kevin Hart, Jack Black, and Karen Gillan, are set to reprise their roles alongside Johnson. Directed by Jake Kasdan, the upcoming film will also see the return of Alex Wolff, Madison Iseman, Ser'Darius Blaine, Morgan Turner, and Awkwafina. The screenplay is written by Jeff Pinkner and Scott Rosenberg, who also penned the earlier installments. Johnson paid tribute to the late Robin Williams, who starred in the original 1995 film, by including a meaningful Easter egg in his post – a pair of dice that his character, Dr. Smolder Bravestone, will wear as a necklace. The 'Jumanji' franchise, which originated from Chris Van Allsburg's 1981 picture book, has been a family classic since its adaptation in 1995. The series has since been reinvented for a new generation with the 2017 reboot 'Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle' and its 2019 sequel 'Jumanji: The Next Level.' With a Christmas 2026 release date confirmed, fans are eagerly anticipating the final chapter in the 'Jumanji' saga. Johnson's post has generated excitement among fans, who are looking forward to a 'good one' from the cast and crew.
