YouTuber and Bigg Boss OTT 2 winner Elvish Yadav has broken his silence on allegations of scamming NGOs for personal gain. In a video message, Elvish emphasized that he never accepts payment for helping others and insisted that his charitable work is genuine. The controversy began when Elvish shared a video asking his followers to help a family whose child suffers from a rare genetic disorder, Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA). A costly Rs. 9 crore injection from the US was needed for treatment. However, stand-up comedian Munawar Faruqui recently claimed that some NGOs pay celebrities and influencers to make emotional appeals for donations, sparking allegations that Elvish was involved in such a scam. Responding to the allegations, Elvish clarified that a close friend had reached out to him for help, and he had shared the information on Milaap (Foundation) to ensure transparency. Elvish explained that he never takes money for helping others and that the NGO's details, barcode, and fund tracking were all publicly accessible. Elvish also accused some individuals of spreading false information to bring him down. He urged people to focus on their own work and business rather than trying to tarnish others' reputation. Meanwhile, comedian Munawar Faruqui recently shared a story about how he was approached by a company to promote a fundraising campaign for a child, which he suspected was a scam. Munawar criticized such promotions, saying that they often have ulterior motives. Elvish's denial of the allegations comes as a relief to his fans, who have been waiting for his response. The controversy has sparked a wider discussion on the ethics of charitable work and the role of social media influencers in promoting fundraising campaigns.
