The release of Bandhu 2.0 from Cocktail 2 has triggered a strong backlash online. Fans criticized the song's choreography, visuals, and the growing obsession with creating songs for social media trends.

Several social media users pointed out that the original 2012 song Tumhi Ho Bandhu remains an era-defining anthem, capturing a carefree energy and natural sense of freedom. In contrast, Bandhu 2.0 was seen as artificial and forced.

Some viewers were unhappy with the overall look of the song, describing it as 'yellow lighting with clickbaity tiktok choreo.' Others felt that the song forgot what made the original special, serving a narrative purpose in Cocktail.

Bandhu 2.0 has been sung by Kavita Seth and Neeraj Shridhar, with music composed by Pritam and lyrics written by Irshad Kamil. The song features Shahid Kapoor, Kriti Sanon and Rashmika Mandanna. Cocktail 2 is set to release in theatres on June 19, 2026.
