Irish fashion designer Paul Costelloe, who made a lasting impression on the fashion world as the personal designer to Princess Diana, has passed away at the age of 80. Costelloe's four-decade-long career at London Fashion Week came to an end with his death, which was confirmed by his family in a statement. Born in Dublin in 1945, Costelloe's journey in fashion took him to Paris, Milan, and eventually London, where he established his own label, Paul Costelloe Collections. His collaboration with Princess Diana, who he designed for from 1983 until her death in 1997, was a defining moment in his career. Costelloe continued to lead his fashion house, which now produces a range of products including womenswear, menswear, bags, homeware, and jewellery. Deputy Prime Minister Simon Harris praised Costelloe's remarkable life and career, calling him a 'quite remarkable Irish success story'. He is survived by his wife and seven children. Costelloe died peacefully following a short illness, surrounded by his loved ones in London.
