In a new controversy surrounding the upcoming Bollywood film Dhurandhar, starring Ranveer Singh, the widow of Pakistani police officer Chaudhary Aslam has expressed her discontent with the film's portrayal of her late husband. Aslam, a renowned encounter specialist, was known for his bravery against terror and criminal gangs in Karachi. The film's official trailer, released earlier this month, has sparked concerns among Aslam's family, particularly his wife Naureen, who fears that her husband will be misrepresented or disrespected in the movie. In the trailer, veteran actor Sanjay Dutt plays Aslam, and a dialogue describes him as the child of the "devil and a jinn", which Naureen Aslam finds deeply offensive. "If I see my husband being portrayed wrongly or any propaganda against him in the film, I will definitely take all legal steps I can," Naureen Aslam stated. She also expressed surprise that Indian filmmakers often choose to depict Pakistan in a negative light, and not just in this film. Aslam's family and friends knew him as a brave and courageous police officer who was feared by criminals and terrorists. Dhurandhar, directed by Aditya Dhar and starring Ranveer Singh, is a high-stakes espionage thriller set in Karachi's notorious Lyari neighbourhood. The film, set to release on December 5, also features Akshaye Khanna as Rehman Dakait, a notorious criminal, and R Madhavan as Indian spy master Ajay Sanyal. Naureen Aslam remains concerned about the film's portrayal of her husband and has vowed to take action if she feels it is unfair or inaccurate.
