Karan Johar has revealed his dream cast for a Kuch Kuch Hota Hai remake, 25 years after the iconic romance captivated audiences. The filmmaker has ruled out Ranbir Kapoor, Deepika Padukone, and Kiara Advani for the project, opting instead for a new generation of stars. In a recent conversation, Karan Johar suggested Alia Bhatt as the modern Anjali, Ranveer Singh as Rahul, and Ananya Panday as Tina. However, he hinted that the role of Tina could go to Janhvi Kapoor or Sara Ali Khan, playfully referring to the new crop of star kids as 'younger nepo babies.' Karan Johar emphasized that he has never hired actors based on their parents' requests, citing his own experiences with nepotism. 'I know they are nepo babies. I've seen them grow up in front of me. But none of their parents have ever called me. I have always been the one to call,' he said. The Dharma Productions head reflected on the studio's journey, from its humble beginnings under Yash Johar's banner to the monumental success of Kuch Kuch Hota Hai in 1998. The film, starring Shah Rukh Khan, Kajol, and Rani Mukerji, revived the studio and cemented Dharma Productions as a Bollywood powerhouse. Karan Johar has not directed any of the new-generation actors in full-length roles, but Ananya, Janhvi, and Sara made brief appearances in his recent film Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani. The upcoming Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri and Naagzilla projects showcase Karan Johar's intent to explore new genres and launch fresh talent under his Dharma Productions banner.
