British music legend Gary 'Mani' Mounfield, best known for his work with 'The Stone Roses' and 'Primal Scream', has passed away at the age of 63. His nephew confirmed his death on social media, paying tribute to his uncle and twin sons. Mani's love for his family was evident throughout his life. He met his wife, Imelda, during the recording of 'The Stone Roses' second album, 'Second Coming'. Together, they had twin sons, Gene Clarke and George Christopher, born in 2012. Tragically, Imelda passed away in November 2023 after a courageous battle with stage-four bowel cancer. Mani and Imelda were vocal about cancer awareness and supported charitable causes in her honor. In 2022, they organized a successful auction that raised almost £100,000 for local charities. Imelda said that the charity work was a source of strength during her journey with cancer. Mani's family has been left to mourn his sudden passing, which has also put an end to his upcoming storytelling tour, 'The Stone Roses, Primal Scream and Me', scheduled to begin in September 2026. His twin sons will continue to carry his legacy forward. Mani's life was marked by his working-class roots in Manchester and his dedication to his hometown. He attended Xaverian College and remained connected to his community throughout his life. His half-brother, Steve Jones, whom he discovered in 2013, has also paid tribute to Mani. As the music world mourns the loss of this talented musician, Mani's family will remember him for his love, his music, and his enduring legacy.
