Grammy-winning artist Lil Nas X appeared in a Los Angeles courtroom on Monday, facing charges of assaulting police officers who arrested him in August for walking naked down a street. The 'Old Town Road' singer, whose real name is Montero Hill, pleaded not guilty to four felony charges, including three counts of battery of a police officer and one count of resisting an officer. If convicted, he faces up to five years in prison. According to his lawyers, Lil Nas X had missed a previous court date due to inpatient treatment. However, he appeared in court on Monday, dressed in a brown jacket and cowboy boots. His attorney, Drew Findling, expressed optimism about a positive resolution in the case. Lil Nas X's father, Robert Stafford, stated in August that the singer was 'very remorseful' for his actions and would seek the necessary help. The artist has won numerous awards, including two Grammys for 'Old Town Road,' making him the first openly gay man to receive a Country Music Association Award. A judge has ordered Lil Nas X to return to court on March 12, when a preliminary hearing date will be set.
