Bollywood actress Madhuri Dixit has joined the conversation around work shifts, sparked by Deepika Padukone's decision to leave two projects due to an 8-hour work schedule demand. In an interview with ANI, Dixit revealed that she worked 12-hour shifts on her upcoming show 'Mrs Deshpande', describing herself as a 'workaholic'. Dixit expressed support for women who choose to work long hours, saying 'if a woman has that power and can say, 'okay, I want to work these many hours,' then that's her prerogative.' The debate started after Deepika Padukone left Sandeep Reddy Vanga's 'Spirit' and Nag Ashwin's 'Kalki 2898 AD' sequel reportedly due to the request for an 8-hour work shift. In an interview with CNBC-TV18, Deepika defended her choice, saying she has the right to choose her work schedule. She also pointed out that many male stars have worked 8-hour shifts without receiving negative attention. 'Mrs Deshpande', directed by Nagesh Kukunoor, is an official remake of the French thriller 'La Mante'. The series, set to release on JioHotstar on December 19, revolves around a serial killer who agrees to help catch a copycat murderer in exchange for working exclusively with her estranged son. The emotionally charged partnership forces the two into an intense working relationship.
