The family of Late Major Mohit Sharma, an Ashoka Chakra and Sena Medal awardee, has filed a petition in the Delhi High Court to halt the release of the upcoming Ranveer Singh starrer 'Dhurandhar.' The family claims that the film draws heavily from Major Sharma's life, covert operations, and martyrdom without permission from the Indian Army or his legal heirs. According to the petition, the filmmakers have neither acknowledged the inspiration nor consulted the family, despite media reports linking the film to Major Sharma's story. The family argues that a martyr's life is not a commercial commodity and that no one has the right to reconstruct a soldier's life for profit without ensuring truth, dignity, and approval. The petition raises serious concerns over national security, alleging that the film depicts sensitive military tactics and strategies without clearance from the relevant authorities. The family seeks a halt on the film's release, a private screening for Major Sharma's family before any public premiere, and a declaration that future films based on real-life military martyrs must obtain prior authorization from the Army and the martyr's legal heirs. The respondents in the petition include the Union Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, the Central Board of Film Certification, the ADGPI, the film's director and co-producer Aditya Dhar, and producer Jio Studios. The matter is expected to be listed for hearing next week. 'Dhurandhar' is an upcoming action drama starring Ranveer Singh, directed by Aditya Dhar, known for the National Award-winning 'Uri: The Surgical Strike.' The film also stars R Madhavan, Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, Arjun Rampal, and Sara Arjun.
