Critically acclaimed actor Manoj Bajpayee has called out the trend of hyping films based on their massive budgets. He believes that the makers of Ramayana and Varanasi are using the budget as a PR tactic to promote their films.
Manoj Bajpayee recently spoke to YouTube channel Kadak, saying that the audience has become too focused on the box office numbers and budget of a film, rather than its content. He emphasized that the audience doesn't benefit from the massive budget of a film and that it's only the producer's prerogative.
The Ramayana series, starring Ranbir Kapoor, is reportedly the most expensive film project in Indian cinema history, with a combined budget of ₹4,000 crore. Varanasi, starring Mahesh Babu, is estimated to have a budget of ₹1,400 crore. Both films are highly anticipated releases this year.
