In a departure from traditional Bollywood fare, Anurag Kashyap's Nishaanchi 2 brings a gripping family saga to the small screen. The sequel to the 2018 film picks up where it left off, with Dabloo (Aaishvary Thackeray) released from jail after a decade and determined to set things right. But as he navigates the complex web of relationships, he discovers that his brother Babloo (also Aaishvary Thackeray) has moved on with the woman he loved, Rinku (Vedika Pinto). The story is a familiar yet engaging tale of two brothers, one driven by self-destruction and the other trying to be the good one. The emotional terrain is well-explored, thanks to Kashyap's masterful storytelling. The film's pacing is well-balanced, with the first half keeping viewers hooked and the second half delivering a satisfying punch. Kashyap's direction shines in building tension without overplaying his hand, and the shifting dynamics between characters make for an engaging ride. The finale, written by Kashyap, Ranjan Chandel, and Omjit Sahu, is a satisfying conclusion to the story. The film's music complements the plot, although some may find it a tad excessive. The cast delivers solid performances, with Aaishvary Thackeray shining as both brothers, Monika Panwar bringing depth as the matriarch, and Vedika Pinto delivering a surprising twist. Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub's portrayal of Inspector Kamal Ajeeb is a standout, eliciting the desired reaction from the audience. At 2.5 hours, Nishaanchi 2 is a smooth ride that exceeds expectations. It's a testament to Kashyap's ability to craft a compelling story that finally gets the attention it deserves.
