South Korean actor Park Si-hoo is set to make a comeback to the film industry after a decade-long absence, sparking both excitement and controversy. In a press conference on December 8, Park addressed his long hiatus and recent allegations tied to an influencer case, which his legal team has disputed as defamation. The 49-year-old actor, known for hits like The Princess Man and My Golden Life, is starring in the upcoming movie Choir of God. This marks his first film-related appearance in over 15 years. Park described the project as a significant step in his return to cinema, despite the ongoing scrutiny. At the press conference, Park broke his silence on accusations made by an online influencer, who alleged that he was involved in an affair that led to her marriage breakdown. Park's representatives have filed a complaint, citing violations of information protection laws. When asked about the allegations, Park expressed mixed feelings, apologizing to the director and fellow actors while stating that the claims were untrue. He also confirmed that the matter is under police investigation and will be allowed to proceed through the legal process. Choir of God, directed by Kim Hyeong-hyeop, follows the story of Park Gyo-soon, a major in the North Korean State Security Department who forms a fake religious choir to earn foreign currency. The film explores human themes through the lens of North Korea's restrictions on religious expression. The production, shot in Mongolia and Hungary under extreme winter conditions, involved a grueling shoot and an ensemble cast, including Jung Jin-woon and Han Jung-wan. The soundtrack features original compositions and a 12-member choir ensemble selected through an audition process. For Park Si-hoo, Choir of God marks a significant step back into cinema, despite the ongoing controversy surrounding him.
