Actor Prithviraj Sukumaran has addressed speculation that his upcoming film Vilaayath Budha was inspired by the hit film Pushpa, starring Allu Arjun. The film, based on GR Indugopan's novel of the same name, was scripted jointly by the author and Rajesh Pinnadan. The project was initially meant to be directed by Sachy, but Jayan Nambiar took over after Sachy's passing in 2020. Prithviraj clarified that the idea for Vilaayath Budha was conceived before Pushpa's release and that the teaser's reference to Pushpa was a nod to the film's similar plot. The actor understands that viewers who haven't read the novel may think the film is inspired by Pushpa, but he assures that the character of Double Mohanan bears no resemblance to Allu Arjun's character. The film, shot in multiple schedules due to Prithviraj's directorial commitments, is set to release on November 21. Vilaayath Budha is a unique story that explores the world of sandalwood smugglers, and Prithviraj is excited to bring this adaptation to the big screen. The actor's recent work includes films like Sarzameen, Varanasi, and Daayra, showcasing his versatility as a thespian.
