Rajinikanth and Nandamuri Balakrishna to be Honoured at IFFI for 50 Years of Cinema Excellence

Two of Indian cinema's biggest stars, Rajinikanth and Nandamuri Balakrishna, will be celebrated at the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) for their outstanding 50-year careers. The duo will be felicitated at the festival's closing ceremony for their enduring impact on Indian film culture and their contributions to shaping the country's storytelling landscape. Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting Dr. L. Murugan made the announcement, stating that the actors will be recognised for their iconic work, widespread popularity, and dedication to the craft. The IFFI, which will run from November 20 to 28, will feature 270 films from 84 countries, including award-winning titles from international film festivals like Cannes, Berlinale, and Venice. Japan will be the country in focus at the festival, while Spain and Australia will be the partner and spotlight countries, respectively. The festival will also include a unique gala float parade in Panaji, featuring 12 tableaux showcasing India's rich film culture. Over 7,500 delegates have already registered for the festival, which promises to be a celebration of Indian cinema's best. Rajinikanth, a legendary Tamil cinema star, has a cult following and a pan-India fan base, with a career spanning over five decades. He has transitioned from negative roles to iconic hero status, with blockbuster box office openings and a massive fan army. Nandamuri Balakrishna, a Telugu cinema actor, has delivered major blockbusters and acted in over 100 films. He is also an MLA for the ruling TDP in Andhra Pradesh. Their honours at IFFI are a testament to their enduring influence on Indian film culture and their contributions to the country's storytelling legacy.
