As Rangeela prepares for its re-release, filmmaker Ram Gopal Varma has shared an anecdote about his experience working with Oscar-winning composer AR Rahman on the film's music. The director revealed that Rahman took an inordinate amount of time to deliver some tracks, leaving him frustrated to the point of considering physical confrontation. Varma reminisced about the time they spent in Goa composing the iconic song 'Hai Rama'. 'We spent five days there, but not a single note was recorded,' he recalled. 'Each day, Rahman would promise to start work the next day, only to change his mind again.' The filmmaker confessed that he grew so exasperated that he felt like physically confronting Rahman. However, Varma acknowledged that patience was ultimately rewarded. 'When he finally delivered the 'Hai Rama' song, it was well worth the wait,' he said. 'Sometimes, great things require time and perseverance.' Rangeela, released in 1995, was a critical and commercial success, starring Aamir Khan, Urmila Matondkar, and Jackie Shroff. The film's music, composed by AR Rahman, remains a beloved part of Indian cinema history.
