Bhagyashri Borse, making her Tamil debut in Kaantha alongside Dulquer Salmaan, has revealed that Rana Daggubati initially expressed reservations about her casting in the period drama. In a recent pre-release event, Bhagyashri shared that Rana was unsure about her acting abilities, but the film's director, Selvamani Selvaraj, was confident in her performance. According to Bhagyashri, a look test in Chennai revealed Rana's initial doubts, with him saying she looked good but wasn't sure about her acting skills. However, after a dress change and further testing, everyone involved in the film was pleased with her performance, and Rana even jokingly referred to himself as the 'villain' for his initial skepticism. Kantha, set in 1950s Madras, stars Dulquer Salmaan as T. K. Mahadevan, alongside Bhagyashri, Samuthirakani, Rana Daggubati, and Ravindra Vijay. The film explores the complex relationship between a legendary Tamil director, Ayya, and the movie star he helped achieve fame, Chandran. After an initial release date of September 12, Kaantha is now set to hit theaters on November 14.
