In a recent turn of events, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has cleared Aditya Dhar's Dhurandhar for release, awarding it an A certificate. The film, starring Ranveer Singh, has a runtime of 214.1 minutes (3 hours 34 minutes 1 second), making it the longest Bollywood film in 17 years. Dhurandhar's storyline revolves around India's Intelligence Bureau Chief Ajay Sanyal's mission to infiltrate and disrupt the terrorist network in Pakistan. The film's synopsis also mentions a 20-year-old boy from Punjab, held captive for a revenge crime, who is identified by Sanyal. Before granting the A certificate, the CBFC requested several edits, including the addition of a voiceover for the Hindi disclaimer and anti-drug and smoking disclaimers in some scenes. The filmmakers were also asked to delete violent visuals, replace them with alternative shots, and mute a cuss word. The name of a minister's character was changed, and additional music and scenes were added to the end credits. The CBFC's decision came after the Delhi High Court directed them to reconsider objections raised by the parents of Ashoka Chakra awardee Late Major Mohit Sharma. The parents had filed a case against the film's makers, alleging that Dhurandhar's storyline echoed aspects of Major Sharma's life and experiences. The CBFC ultimately concluded that the film bears no resemblance to Major Sharma's life or service. Directed by Aditya Dhar and produced by Jio Studios and B62 Studios, Dhurandhar stars Ranveer Singh alongside Sanjay Dutt, Akshaye Khanna, R Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Sara Arjun, and Rakesh Bedi. The film is scheduled for release on December 5, 2025.
