Ranveer Singh's Dhurandhar Shatters Box Office Records in Kashmir, Set to Cross ₹1000 Crore

Aditya Dhar's Dhurandhar has taken the nation by storm, shattering box office records with each passing day. Despite a shaky past for theatrical exhibitions in Jammu and Kashmir, the film has managed to fill single-screen theaters across the region, including smaller towns like Shopian and Pulwama. This renewed demand for cinema-going in the region is a testament to the film's widespread appeal. According to exhibitors, Dhurandhar reported sold-out shows over the weekend at various centers in Kashmir, including smaller towns where multiplexes do not operate. Citara, a cinema chain with small-format theaters, has seen a record turnout for the film in most of its theaters. Rahul Nehra, MD, Citara Plex, attributes the success to their focus on building accessible and affordable cinemas for smaller markets. Dhurandhar, starring Ranveer Singh, has already collected ₹351 crore net in India and ₹530 crore gross worldwide in just 10 days. The film's impressive growth by word of mouth has raised hopes that it might cross the ₹1000-crore barrier, a feat no Indian film has achieved this year. The spy thriller, set in Pakistan's Lyari, also stars Akshaye Khanna, Sanjay Dutt, R Madhavan, and Arjun Rampal in key roles.
