Actor-politician Ravi Kishan is championing the cause of recognizing television at the National Awards. The move, which has gained momentum after TV producer Binaifer Kohli's suggestion, aims to enhance the quality of content and performances on television. Kishan plans to write to the ministry to propose a separate category for TV shows in the National Film Awards, which could also be implemented for regional languages. According to Kishan, National-level recognition for TV could encourage stronger storytelling, including shows rooted in India's history and culture. He believes that a National Award would offer a unique prestige, setting it apart from other TV awards. This isn't the first time Kishan has sought policy attention for industry concerns, having earlier submitted a private member's bill on the challenges faced by actors later in life. With over 35 years of experience across television formats, Kishan has established himself as a versatile actor and a dedicated parliamentarian. His efforts have not gone unnoticed, with him winning the Sansad Ratan Award last year and several film awards. Kishan cites his advocacy as a testament to his commitment, pointing to a recent example where he raised the issue of prosecuting those who file false cases, resulting in a subsequent order from the Allahabad High Court. As Kishan continues to balance his acting and political careers, he remains focused on raising industry concerns and pushing for positive change. Upcoming projects include the second season of Mamla Legal Hai and films such as Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain! Fun on the Run, Dhamaal 4, Mirzapur: The Film, and Maa Behan alongside Madhuri Dixit and Triptii Dimri.
