Singer Jasmine Sandlas is currently basking in the glory of her chart-topping songs in Aditya Dhar's Dhurandhar. In a recent chat, Jasmine recalled the harsh realities of leaving India and moving to the US. She revealed how her father left his high-paying job in India and took up menial jobs in the US for their family's survival.
Jasmine recalled how it was living in the US when they initially moved to the country. They landed in New York, where she didn't speak English and her family had to live in a one-bedroom apartment, which was a low-income home. They relied on food stamps for a cheap ration.
Jasmine's father had a high-profile job in India, but he sacrificed his entire life to move to the US. He worked as a gas station attendant and later became a legal interpreter, translating Punjabi to English in court. Her mother also worked hard, picking cherries in a factory. Jasmine even worked as an interpreter for some time.
Jasmine is currently riding high on success, with her songs like Jaiye Sajana, Shararat, and Dhurandhar Title Track emerging as chartbusters. Aditya Dhar's two-part films have crossed ₹3000 crore worldwide as a franchise and continue to run in the theatres despite strong competition.
