Sunny Deol's highly anticipated war drama Border 2 is off to a flying start with advance bookings that are outpacing several recent big releases, both domestically and internationally. The film, directed by Anurag Singh and produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, J.P. Dutta, and Nidhi Dutta, opened its advance bookings in India on Monday and overseas on Sunday evening. In the US, Australia, Germany, and select theatres in Canada, advance bookings for Border 2 are reportedly faster than those for Dhurandhar and War 2, according to trade sources. In Australia, the film's advance bookings have even outpaced those of recent blockbusters, with the US and Germany witnessing similar traction. However, a clearer picture will emerge once Cineplex, the country's largest cinema chain, opens bookings for Border 2 in Canada. Domestically, advance bookings for Border 2 have been open for only a few hours, but are already showing significant momentum. As of Monday noon, the film was selling 2,000 tickets per hour on the ticketing platform BookMyShow. With four days to go before the film's release and more screens opening in time, the sales pace is expected to accelerate further. Border 2, a sequel to JP Dutta's iconic 1997 blockbuster, stars Sunny Deol alongside Varun Dhawan, Diljit Dosanjh, and Ahan Shetty in lead roles. The film releases in theatres on January 23, ahead of the Republic Day, and is poised to make a massive opening both in India and abroad.
