Tabu Reunites with Akshay Kumar in Bhooth Bangla: 'He's Still the Same Old Humorous Self'

After a 25-year hiatus, Tabu is set to reunite with Akshay Kumar in the horror comedy Bhooth Bangla, directed by Priyadarshan. Speaking to ETimes, Tabu revealed that working with Akshay has been a delightful experience, just like it was in their earlier films together, including Tu Chor Main Sipahi and Hera Pheri. Tabu, who last appeared in Auron Mein Kahan Dum Tha (2024) with Ajay Devgn, expressed her excitement about returning to the horror comedy genre, which she last explored in Golmaal Again (2017) and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 (2022). Her upcoming projects also include a Tamil-Telugu film with Vijay Sethupathi, directed by Puri Jagannadh. Reflecting on her first day on the Bhooth Bangla set, Tabu shared that she was initially unsure of what to expect, given her limited interaction with Akshay over the years. However, she was pleased to find that Priyadarshan, the director, remained unchanged - still 'impatient and vocal about what he feels', and a one-take director. Tabu also praised Akshay's unchanged energy and humor, saying that he still adheres to his strict routine, waking up at 4 am and finishing early, which she believes is beneficial for the rest of the cast. She noted that his commitment to his personal life, including his preference for an early night and avoiding parties, is still the same as it was years ago. The reunion of Tabu and Akshay in Bhooth Bangla is set to release in 2026, and fans are eagerly awaiting their on-screen chemistry once again.
