Renowned Tamil film producer AVM Saravanan, a pioneer of Indian cinema, has passed away at the age of 86. The legendary producer died on December 4, just a day after celebrating his 86th birthday. Born on December 3, 1939, Saravanan was the son of AV Meiyappan, a trailblazer in Tamil cinema. Saravanan's illustrious career spanned over seven decades, during which he co-founded AVM Productions and AVM Studios in 1945. The production house is renowned for producing iconic Tamil films, including 'Naanum Oru Penn,' 'Sivaji: The Boss,' and 'Minsara Kanavu.' The Tamil film industry has lost a stalwart with Saravanan's demise, with numerous celebrities, including actor Vishal, paying their respects on social media. Vishal remembered Saravanan as a mentor and a pillar of the film industry, who inspired generations of filmmakers. As news of Saravanan's passing spread, fans and industry members gathered to pay their last respects at AVM Studios. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin also visited the studio to pay his condolences to the family. AVM Saravanan's legacy extends beyond his film productions. He served as the Sheriff of Madras in 1986 and left an indelible mark on the Tamil film industry. His son, MS Guhan, is also a producer, carrying forward the family's legacy in the film industry.
