The Madras High Court has scheduled a hearing for KVN Productions' plea regarding the delayed certification of Vijay's highly anticipated film, Jana Nayagan. The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) has clarified that their Chairperson is yet to make a decision on the film. According to Additional Solicitor General ARL Sundaresan, representing the CBFC, the board had to hurriedly send Jana Nayagan to a revising committee due to a court case filed by the producers. The ASG argued that the 14 cuts recommended by the examining committee are only an 'intermediary step' and not the final decision. He emphasized that the board's Chairperson has not yet made a final ruling on the film. In a surprising twist, the ASG questioned the producers' claim of investing ₹500 crore in Jana Nayagan, and wondered why they are rushing to decide on a release date. The CBFC has also pointed out that they were not given sufficient time to file a response in the previous court case, and the communication sent on January 6 was not challenged by the producers. The Madras High Court has agreed to hear KVN Productions' side of the argument after lunch, as the case continues to unfold. The fate of Jana Nayagan's release remains uncertain, with the CBFC seeking more time to finalize the certification process.
