Bollywood filmmaker Vikram Bhatt and his wife Shwetambari are facing a fraud case worth ₹30 crore. The couple was arrested last week and sent to judicial custody. On Tuesday, a court rejected their request for medical bail, forcing them to spend more time in custody. The police are preparing to file charges against them in connection with an alleged ₹30 crore scam filed by a film producer. According to the police, the case was filed by Dr. Ajay Murdia, a businessman who claimed that Vikram and his associates promised to produce four films for ₹47 crore in exchange for an initial ₹7 crore investment. However, Murdia alleged that the filmmakers siphoned off more than ₹30 crore by providing false assurances about the films. The police claim that the accused used fake documents to steal the funds. The couple's medical bail request was denied by the court on Tuesday. Their lawyer had requested interim bail on medical grounds, but the court sent them back to judicial custody. The police have now transferred them to the Central Jail in Udaipur. The case is ongoing, and the police are expected to file charges against Vikram and his associates soon.
