In a defamation suit against Red Chillies and Netflix, Sameer Wankhede's counsel argued in the Delhi High Court that Aryan Khan's debut web series, The Ba***ds of Bollywood, is a malicious attempt to tarnish the IRS officer's reputation. The counsel claimed that the makers of the series are hiding behind a disclaimer and taking a 'sly approach' to attack Wankhede in his professional capacity. Wankhede is seeking ₹2 crore in damages, which he wants to donate to the Tata Memorial Cancer Hospital. His counsel stated that the series' satire defense is not absolute and that the officer was targeted with malice and a personal vendetta. The court posed questions about artistic freedom to the production house, and the arguments by Red Chillies are scheduled to begin on November 17. Wankhede has also sought interim relief, requesting the removal of the alleged defamatory content from several websites. The series has been at the center of controversy, with Wankhede claiming that it has been deliberately conceptualized to malign his reputation, particularly in light of the ongoing case involving him and Aryan Khan. The high court had issued notices and summons to the defendants, including Red Chillies, Netflix, and others, and asked them to file their replies within seven days.
