Dhaka Clashes: Over 50 Injured in Student Violence,Bangladesh Deploys Security Forces Amid Student Unrest
Students of three colleges - Kabi Nazrul College, Suhrawardy College, and Dr Mahbubur Rahman Molla College - clashed in the Jatrabari and Demra areas of Dhaka, leaving over 50 people injured. Six platoons of the Bangladesh Border Guard (BGB) were deployed in the affected areas, along with other law enforcement agencies, including police.
Eight students are in critical condition, and all injured students are undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital and adjacent hospital.
A case has been filed against 8,000 students of 37 different colleges in connection with vandalism at National Medical College and Hospital in Dhaka.The delayed response from security agencies raised questions about preparedness and lack of preventive measures despite escalating tensions.
Student leader Asif Mahmud appealed for resolution through dialogue, but clashes among students could not be prevented.Mahmud condemned the clashes, stating that they could have been prevented if law enforcement agencies had acted earlier.
