Sri Lanka Experiences Islandwide Power Outage Due to Unlikely Cause

A sudden and unexpected islandwide power outage was reported in Sri Lanka, affecting multiple regions across the country. The Ceylon Electricity Board (CEB) has confirmed that power supply has been restored to most parts of the island.

According to Power Minister Kanchana Wijesekera's successor, Power Minister Kumara Jayakodi, the unusual cause of the power outage was a monkey that clashed with the Panadura grid substation. However, the Ministry of Power and Energy has described the situation as an "emergency at the Panadura substation", without elaborating on the details.

The swift restoration of power by the CEB has brought relief to the affected areas, and an investigation into the incident is likely to be conducted to prevent such unexpected disruptions in the future.
