Earthquake Strikes Thailand and Myanmar, Indian Embassy Assures Safety of Nationals

A powerful earthquake has rocked Thailand and Myanmar, causing widespread damage and loss of life. The Indian Embassy in Thailand has assured the safety of Indian nationals in the country, stating that no untoward incidents involving Indian citizens have been reported.

The embassy has advised Indian nationals in Thailand to contact the emergency number +66 618819218 in case of any emergency. The quake has damaged buildings, roads, and infrastructure in both Thailand and Myanmar, with reports of collapsed buildings and a bridge in Myanmar.

Rescue teams in Myanmar are working to find survivors and help those affected. The earthquake has also been felt in Thailand's capital, Bangkok, where strong tremors forced people to run out of their homes.

The city is scheduled to host a summit of the BIMSTEC regional grouping next week, which will be attended by Prime Minister Modi among other leaders.
