Syria Plunged into Chaos: Death Toll Surpasses 1000 in Clashes

Violence has erupted in Syria, resulting in a staggering death toll of over 1000 people in just two days. The clashes began in the coastal region of Jableh in Latakia province and have since spread along the Mediterranean coast.

According to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, 745 civilians, 125 government security forces, and 148 armed group members affiliated with ousted President Bashar Assad have been killed. The group also reported power and water outages in large areas around Latakia.

Revenge killings have also been reported, with gunmen loyal to the government targeting members of Assad's minority Alawite sect. The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has expressed deep concern over the escalating violence and civilian casualties, calling on all parties to protect civilians and uphold humanitarian principles.
