India Urges Bangladesh to Protect Minorities Amid Rising Violence
India has called upon Bangladesh to take immediate action to protect its minority populations, citing a surge in extremist rhetoric and violence. Randhir Jaiswal, spokesperson for India's External Affairs Ministry, emphasized that the interim government in Bangladesh must fulfill its responsibility to safeguard all minorities.
Jaiswal expressed concern over the increasing incidents of violence and provocation, particularly against Hindus and other minorities. India has consistently raised concerns with the Bangladeshi government about threats and targeted attacks on minorities. The Indian government has urged Bangladesh to take all necessary steps to protect its minority populations.
The arrest of Hindu monk Chinmoy Krishna Das has also sparked concern, with Jaiswal stating that India expects the legal processes to be fair, just, and transparent. India expects Bangladesh to ensure the safety and security of all minorities, and to take prompt action against those responsible for violence and intimidation.
