President Donald Trump has nominated Lance Schroyer to become the next Director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), a key law enforcement position in the country.

Schroyer, a veteran Oklahoma law enforcement officer, brings decades of experience in policing, public safety, and cooperation between local authorities and federal immigration officials.

He spent a major part of his career with the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, holding various leadership roles, including Trooper, Lieutenant, Captain, and Major.

Schroyer also served in the United States Marine Corps and has been involved in public safety efforts, including advisory roles, such as serving on Oklahoma's Drug Dog Advisory Council.

He played a key role in promoting and expanding 287(g) agreements in Oklahoma, which allow local and state law enforcement officers to perform certain immigration-related tasks.

Trump chose Schroyer for his decades of law enforcement experience, involvement in immigration enforcement efforts, and strong working relationship with Homeland Security Secretary Markwayne Mullin.

If confirmed by the Senate, Schroyer will oversee ICE at a time when immigration enforcement remains a closely watched issue in U.S. politics.
