Qatar's interior ministry reported a factory explosion in Ras Laffan, an industrial city north of Doha, on Sunday. The ministry stated that several injuries were reported due to a 'technical accident,' but no hazardous leak was detected.
A source told Reuters that the blast occurred at the Barzan gas plant in Ras Laffan due to an 'operational error.' Videos of the explosion have since emerged on social media.
Qatar officials confirmed that the internal explosion occurred at one of the factories in the Ras Laffan Industrial Area following a technical malfunction during operations.
Civil Defense teams were quickly sent to the site, where they began handling the situation and putting safety measures in place.
