US President Donald Trump has urged all sides to 'stand down' after Israeli strikes on Beirut's southern suburbs threatened to derail a peace deal with Iran.
Trump called for 'no more attacks by Israel on Lebanon' or by any other party, including Hezbollah, saying the attack should not have happened on a 'special day' when the US and Iran were close to a peace deal.
While stating that Israel 'has the right to defend itself', Trump said the attack it responded to was 'very small and meaningless' and that no one had been hurt or killed.
Israel has blamed Hezbollah for the hostilities, claiming the group had attacked Israel in the morning and 'constantly fires at Israeli civilians'.
Israel's military said Hezbollah had launched three projectiles towards its territory, releasing footage of the strikes, but no casualties or injuries were reported.
